Here is as fine an example of an All American, aged VA flake as I have ever smoked, for whatever thats worth. It's a little less sweet than the Opening Night I tried earlier from the same producer, but the difference in flavor would be noticeable if you smoke them one after the other. I'm very familiar with the previous batches of CRF, and just now smoked my first bowl of the 2020 batch. This will age so wonderfully it's a crying shame only 2,400 tins were made. The only drawback is, because it is so easy to burn evenly, and comes in the tin ready to pack, it does burn a little fast for most flake users--and it is a little difficult to really get a rhythm with it that will reveal all the flavors. My whole mouth feels abused. I don't tend to smoke fast whatsoever so I was very surprised at that outcome. Comparing visually to my now 2 year old 2020 edition, I notice that the small intact flakes of this year are more visually appealing, and the initial smell is better I feel.
